Merlin Metal Gimbal is now Standard!

We are happy to pass on the news from Tiffen that the new Metal Gimbal is now standard with the Steadicam Merlin, ending the Garrett Brown signature series. It should be noted that the tripod adapter is now no longer included in the package. THIS IS NOW SEPERATE! Tiffen's online documents have yet to be updated.

Steadicam inventor Garrett Brown commented on the new Gimbal: "At last the Merlin has a truly frictionless gimbal. Now you can set much longer drop times and it behaves perfectly, much more stable and more immune to unwanted moves."

Steadicam JR Discontinued

The Steadicam JR Camera Stabilizer is discontinued effectively immediately. Orders have been received for remaining inventory and the last unit will ship this week.

We do not have the ability to build additional units. We do have stock of repair parts so the Glendale, California (Steadicam Manufacturing Operations) facility will have the ability to offer Warranty, normal repair service and parts.

The "JR" handheld stabilizer was introduced in the early 1990's and started an evolution of low cost stabilizers which today is represented by the award winning MERLIN Steadicam stabilizer. Many imitators have emerged but none have captured the essence and performance of the Steadicam product!

Frank Rush, Steadicam Product Manager.

Welcome to MerlinResource.com!

Hello everyone Welcome to the brand new MerlinResource.com website! This website is run and maintained by Steadicam Owner/Operators. Whilst this website is not owned or run by Tiffen, we do have information direct from them and have been working with Tiffen Europe and Steadicam inventor Garrett Brown to deliver this website.

This website is still in its infancy. How popular it is depends on you, the fellow Steadicam operator. We would love to hear from you with any ideas or contributions you may have. We hope you enjoy your stay!
